歇斯底里剧团是由前卫剧场女导演、艺术家蔡艺芸于2009年创建的，旨在推广一种全新的女性主义戏剧，从女性出发，探索剧场以及剧场以外的空间，制造更多的可能性。
歇斯底里英文意思为毫无来由的情绪，词源于希腊文hystera（子宫），古代西方人认为此症病患所以会呈现出各式各样的症状是因为子宫在女性体内四处移动所导致的。
歇斯底里剧场是一种精神障碍、感觉障碍、运动障碍、植物神经和内脏功能障碍的症候剧场，以病症引起的女性混沌身体，将剧场变为某种「性交」形式，摧毁作为男性的秩序化身体以及依靠这种强势「健康」心理表征组织起来的严密社会结构。

Hysteria Theater Manifesto:
Hysteria Theater, was founded by a female avant-garde theater director, artist Cai YiYun in 2009.
The theatre aims to promote a new feminist play, observes from the female experiences, and explores the space in and outside the theater, for creating more possibilities of theater arts.
"Hysteria" means emotions for no apparent reason in English. This word comes from the Greek “hystera” (womb). Ancient westerners believe that this kind of disease patients, present a wide variety of symptoms, because of the uterus in female body could move around. Hysteria Theater is a symptoms theatre of kinds of mental disorders, sensory abnormalities, movement disorders, plant nerve and visceral dysfunction. Chaos of female body caused by the "symptoms", turn the theater into some form of "Sexual intercourse", destroy the male body under the “order” and destroy the tightly organized social structure which rely on the strength of "health" mental representation .
